This project examined the impact of redlining in the 1940s on modern-day demographics, housing, finances and education in Pittsburgh. This project asked the question “How many Pennsylvanians will get infected with COVID-19?” The developed a logistic nonlinear regression model to create a prediction equation. The equation tracked cases well until March 5th, 2022 when it began to underestimate cases. This team analyzed 68 neighborhoods and a total of 123 playgrounds and found that only 21% of playground equipment was ADA accessible. Swings were the only ADA accessible equipment that was available in any playground. Impressively, this team collected some of their own data, measuring pH levels from parts of the river within the Reservation. They found that water samples they collected were more acidic than reported by the California Natural Resources Agency for other parts of the river.
